Ecommerce: online retail spiked in the pandemic. Covid19 has accelerated ecommerce adoption reaching a whopping 21% penetration of total retail sales, compared to 15.8% in 2019.
Food: groceries are finally moving online, and that shift has only just begun. European grocery sales account for $2.2kB annually. Increasing online penetration by an average 10% in the next few years means adding an additional ~ $220B of TAM. Who will capture that value?
Delivery: we believe that the dark store model will win within urban centers. Full integration makes for inherently superior unit economics, allowing, in turn, to achieve lower prices to the end consumers.
